Maharashtra: Lockdown will be lifted by November, hints Rajesh Tope

The lockdown in Maharashtra may be lifted by the month of November

Pune: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Saturday hinted that the lockdown in Maharashtra will be lifted by the month of November by allowing all sectors to resume their operations.

Addressing the mediapersons on Saturday the Health Minister hinted that the state is preparing to lift the lockdown in the state by November. From that month, restrictions pertaining to lockdown might also be lifted resulting in all sectors to resume their businesses.

He further added that the government is planning to open various business sectors step by step within the coming two months but before the safety of people will be ensured.

As already announced by the state government, hotels, food, restaurants and bars are allowed to operate from with capacity not exceeding 50 per cent of the total staff. Separate SOPs are also shared by the government for the necessary precautions that the establishments need to undertake. Tope informing further also stated that in next phase of decision religious places, schools, educational institutes will be allowed to resume. The decision will be taken after thoroughly considering the spread of COVID-19.

Many business owners including that of gymnasiums, organisations, authorities of religious places had recently staged a protest demanding to reopen amid the rise of COVID-19 cases in the state. Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) together with Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena (MNS) and Bahujan Vanchit Aghadi also staged a protest against Uddhav Thackeray led government demanding temples to reopen.

Meanwhile, lockdown in the state has been extended till October 31 with more relaxations outside containment zones.
