NCP may get one more berth in Cabinet
MUMBAI: The MLAs in all ruling parties are aspiring to get inducted in the Cabinet. Many of them are holding the third term in the Assembly and are getting upset as the distribution of portfolio is getting delayed.
The State Congress is lobbying strongly to get a berth in the Thackeray-led Cabinet. The Congress is likely to get less share than the other two parties positions while the new MLAs also want representation in the Cabinet.
According to sources, earlier the sharing of the portfolio was 16 ministers of Shiv Sena including CM, 15 of NCP and 13 of Congress including the Speaker of the Assembly.
Now, the equation has changed and the Shiv Sena is ready to give one more berth to NCP from their own quota and the Sena will have 15 ministries including chief minister and NCP will get 16 berths and Congress 12 berths.
Nanabhau Patole from Congress has already been elected Speaker.
Meanwhile, CM Uddhav Thackeray announced that the government will expand the Cabinet in the next two-three days. According to sources, the expansion will be on next Friday before the Assembly session begins.
The ministers are required to answer the questions raised by the Opposition in the Assembly session. The list of ministers will be finalised by the Congress high command in next week.
