We have begun our preparations for one more Christmas!
St Ephrem sang on Christmas day, “On this day on which the Lord of all came among servants,
let the lords also bow down to their servants lovingly. On this day when the Rich One was made
poor for our sake, let the rich man also make the poor man a sharer at his table” (Hymn on
Nativity, I: 93, 94).
Christmas gives means of peace and reconciliation whilst we have a situation where we wrestle between religion, societies, and ideology without compassion. It is a reality that dissimilarity in opinion and individual preference do exist.
However, it is certain that battles, slaughtering, assaults, and violence occur based on these differences will lead the society discontented.
Let this Christmas season allow people who are in anguish and feeling hopeless due to misfortune in life to dream a rewarding future - an India without poverty, a society without discrimination based on religion, caste and ideology, a street without grudge, fear and children begging, youth with imagination and not addicted to substances.
