
Pune: In the elections for the 2025-26 term of the Pune Bar Association, Advocate Hemant Zanjad has been elected as the President, securing a decisive win with 3,329 votes.
The election, which saw a competitive battle, witnessed 5,176 lawyers exercising their franchise out of a total of 10,299 registered voters. The voting took place on Friday (January 31), and the results were declared after the midnight counting process concluded.
The contest for Vice President positions also witnessed a strong voter turnout. Adv. Sameer Bhunde, who had narrowly lost in the previous election, secured a sweeping victory with 3,333 votes, making him the leading vote-getter in this election cycle. The second Vice President position was won by Adv. Surekha Bhosale with 1,919 votes. Bhosale had previously served as the Secretary of the Bar Association.
For the two Secretary positions, Adv. Prithviraj Thorat and Adv. Bhagyashree Gujar-Mule emerged victorious, securing 3,174 and 3,156 votes, respectively, winning by a substantial margin. In the Treasurer's race, Adv. Indrajit Bhoite clinched the position, while the post of Auditor was filled unanimously by Adv. Kedar Shitole.
The executive committee, consisting of ten members, was also unanimously elected. The members include Adv. Mavani Poonam, Adv. Madhavi Pawar, Adv. Bharati Newale, Adv. Prashant Pawar, Adv. Shrikant Chondhe, Adv. Prasad Nigde, Adv. Swapnil Joshi, Adv. Akash Galande, Adv. Raj Khaire, and Adv. Ganesh Mane.
The election was conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Officers Adv. Girish Shedge and Adv. Vijayaraj Darekar. Additional election responsibilities were handled by Adv. Amol Jadhav and Adv. Anil alias Annasaheb Pawar.
Deputy Election Officers Adv. Pravin Yesade, Adv. Supriya Kothari, Adv. Sachin Jhalte Patil, and Adv. Atul Patil also played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the election. Furthermore, Assistant Election Officers Adv. Sandesh Jayabhay, Adv. Prabhakar Sonawane, Adv. Ramchandra Chandare, Adv. Vikas Undre, Adv. Hemant Bhand, Adv. Kadambari Daunde, and Adv. Sachinkumar Gelda contributed to the election management.
