Pune, 21 July 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has assured that flood-like situations will not recur in Hinjawadi, as measures are already underway to address drainage and unauthorized constructions. "A survey is being conducted to understand rainfall patterns, water flow, and the encroachment on natural streams in Hinjawadi.

Buildings constructed on streams are being ordered to be demolished. Work on key roads such as Laxmi Chowk to flyover, Ghotawade-Man-Hinjewadi-Marunji-Kasarsai, Pashan-Sus-Pirangut, and Mhalunge-Ghotawade has been instructed,” Pawar said while speaking to media after reviewing the area with officials on Sunday.

In the wake of the recent tragic incident at Kundmala, Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase had ordered a structural audit of all dangerous and highly dangerous bridges. The audit revealed that 61 bridges in the district are hazardous. Immediate demolition orders for these structures have been issued by the Collector.

Pawar further stated, “During the recent assembly session, PWD Minister Shivrendra Raje Bhosale announced a committee under the department secretary to review dangerous bridges across the state. This committee is considered higher in authority than the one formed at the district level. Hence, all relevant information will be provided to the secretary-led committee.”

He added that while some bridges can be used after repairs, funds for such work will be allocated from the District Planning Committee. However, bridges that remain unsafe even after repair efforts will be demolished.

When asked about a recent incident of vandalism at Sahakarnagar Police Station, Pawar remarked, “Such acts create an impression that fear of law no longer exists. If people raise hands against the police, they will face strong action. Police are taking precautions to prevent such events.”

On being questioned about the FIR filed against MLA Rohit Pawar, Ajit Pawar responded, “I am not aware of this matter.”
