Pune: Ongoing road repair projects in Pune, especially on Apte Road in the Deccan area, have left residents, students, and motorists grappling with daily inconveniences. Dug-up roads, incomplete repairs, and traffic congestion during peak hours have turned commuting into a challenge.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated various repair and maintenance projects across the city, including drainage, water supply, and road repairs. However, many of these projects remain unfinished or are progressing at a snail’s pace, causing significant disruptions in daily life.

On Apte Road, half of the road has been dug up for sewer pipeline installation, leaving the remaining lane to accommodate two-way traffic. The unattended gravel and open chamber lids have caused accidents, particularly for two-wheeler riders. Similar issues persist in other parts of the city, including Paud Road, Bajirao Road, and Katraj, where roadworks remain incomplete for over a year.

Nikita Kothadiya, Apte Road Resident said, “The two-lane road has effectively been reduced to one lane, and with traffic congestion, cars are forced to wait for long durations. The attempts to overtake by two-wheelers further risk accidents. This is a dangerous situation, and the authorities must take immediate corrective measures.”
