
Pune: The 73rd Armed Forces Medical Conference, ARMEDiCON 2025, was successfully held at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, from January 28 to 30, 2025.
The event brought together healthcare professionals from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with renowned civilian experts. It served as a crucial forum to discuss advancements in medical research, emerging healthcare trends, and key policy considerations for the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).
The conference was inaugurated on January 28 by SurgVAdm Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). Several distinguished dignitaries attended the event, including:

The keynote address was delivered by Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Vice Chancellor of MUHS, Nashik, and an esteemed AFMC alumna. Her insights on healthcare leadership and innovation set the tone for the conference.
During the event, AFMC’s legacy of producing top medical professionals was celebrated, with awards recognizing outstanding performance in various professional examinations. The Medical Journal Armed Forces India (MJAFI), a leading medical research publication since 1945, also honored excellence in scientific writing by awarding the best paper and reviewer.
The conference showcased pioneering research through institutional and collaborative projects across multiple medical fields. Researchers were recognized for their contributions with prestigious awards, including the Chief of Army Staff Award, Chief of Naval Staff Award, and Chief of Air Staff Award.
This year’s MJAFI Oration was delivered by Prof. Rohit Srivastava, Vigyan Shri and Himanshu Patel Chair Professor, IIT Mumbai, who spoke on “Affordable Healthcare Technologies for India.”
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the DHR-ICMR Advanced Molecular Oncology Diagnostic Services (DIAMOnDS) Centre, a cutting-edge molecular oncopathology lab, by the DGAFMS in the presence of senior AFMS dignitaries.
