Pune, 30 August 2025: A shocking incident unfolded in Pune’s Baner area on Friday morning when a man tried to shoot his former girlfriend after she refused to speak with him. The pistol misfired, and the young woman escaped unhurt.
The woman, an MBA student currently interning at a private company in Baner, was heading to work around 10 a.m. when the accused intercepted her. Disguised as a food delivery agent, he blocked her way and attempted to force a conversation. When she declined, he pulled out a pistol and tried to fire at her. Fortunately, the weapon failed to discharge, allowing her to raise an alarm.
Hearing her screams, office staff and security guards rushed to the spot. The accused, however, fled the premises on a two-wheeler before he could be caught.
Police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Somya Mundhe, visited the site and launched a manhunt. Investigators confirmed that the man is an employee at a private firm and is already facing an attempt-to-murder charge in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The office where the incident occurred is housed in an old building without CCTV surveillance, adding to the challenge of tracing the suspect.
Police inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant said that efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused at the earliest.
