Pune: The Adgaon police in Nashik have arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals for illegally residing in India. In a shocking revelation, three of them were found with Aadhaar cards and residency certificates issued from Narayangaon (Taluka Junnar) of Pune district.
Police investigations have further revealed that one of the suspects’ names was listed in the voter roll of Ward No. 5 of Narayangaon Gram Panchayat, raising concerns about fake documentation and potential electoral fraud. The Gram Panchayat administration has now launched an inquiry to determine who issued these certificates and under what circumstances.
Fake Residency Certificates & Aadhaar Cards Discovered
According to Nashik's Crime Branch, the arrested Bangladeshi nationals were illegally residing and working in India. Among them, Alim Suankhan Mandal (32), Al-Amin Aminur Sheikh (21), and Mosin Moufijul Mulla (22) were found in possession of residency certificates linked to Bhujbal Chawl, Narayangaon. Investigations revealed that these fake addresses were used to obtain Aadhaar cards, further complicating the case.
Officials are now investigating whether the residency certificates were fraudulently issued by employees of Narayangaon Gram Panchayat or Warulwadi Gram Panchayat. The discovery that Al-Amin Aminur Sheikh's name was listed in Narayangaon’s voter list has intensified concerns over electoral integrity and fraudulent documentation. To further probe the matter, two of the arrested Bangladeshi nationals were brought from Nashik to Narayangaon for questioning on Friday (February 7) night.

Where these individuals were staying
Who assisted them in obtaining fake documents
Whether other illegal immigrants are involved
This issue has been raised several times in the past. Former Deputy Sarpanch Ramdas Abhang pointed out that a formal request was made a year ago to the Junnar Tehsil Office and District Collector’s Office to remove Bangladeshi nationals from the voter list, but no action was taken.
Yogesh Pate, Deputy Sarpanch, Narayangaon: "Residency certificates are issued only after verifying self-declaration and Aadhaar details. We are investigating whether these certificates were fake and who was responsible. Strict action must be taken against those who facilitated this fraud."
