A disturbing video from a hostel at Bennett University in Noida has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage online. The footage shows a young girl encircled by a group of fellow students, subjected to verbal abuse and repeatedly slapped in an incident that appears less like a dispute and more like a deliberate act of public humiliation.

A confrontation that quickly turned ugly

The video suggests that the altercation seems to have started after a prior verbal dispute, reportedly involving comments about a student’s parents. Inside a hostel room, several girls are visible surrounding one student, who is identified in the footage as Anushka. What starts as a verbal dispute quickly becomes menacing. One girl can be heard saying, “Now you will say sorry to everyone… one apology, one dose, alright?” indicating that she must apologise to each person, with every apology accompanied by a slap.

Attempting to defuse the situation, the girl in the middle wearing red (Anushka) can be heard saying, “Maine toh usey sorry bol rahi…”, stressing that she was already apologizing. However, the group’s reaction only grew more hostile. “You’re going to get slapped. Of course you will!” another voice says. “Until you cry…” As the video goes on, the atmosphere in the room becomes progressively more menacing.

One student can be heard saying, “Jab tak ro nahi jayegi… tab tak hum tujhe bhejenge nahi.” The implication was clear: the girl would not be allowed to go until she was driven to tears.

At another moment, a person in the room can be heard saying, “Baap pe toh tere gayi hai… yaad kar, apne andar ki rage jaga.” The repeated mentions of parents seemed to serve as the emotional trigger for the aggression, but it was what happened afterward that has attracted the harshest criticism.

Repeated slaps caught on camera

In the most distressing segment of the video, the girl is shown clutching Anushka’s hand while another person repeatedly slaps her. As she attempts to protect herself and push back with her leg, her voice grows increasingly frantic. “That’s enough… that’s enough…” she pleads.Moments later, she appears to say, “Ruko… lag gayi… khoon aa raha hai.” But even then, the taunts continue. “Hume toh nahi dikh raha,” one of the girls responds. The group then continues pressuring her to apologise. “Sorry bol… sabko sorry bol.”

Video sparks anger online

The individual who initially posted the clip online called the incident “extremely shameful,” claiming that a girl was encircled, slapped, and verbally abused by several others inside a university hostel room. The post stated, “This is not ragging, but blatant bullying and assault,” and urged the university administration to take immediate action.

The post further called on authorities to review CCTV recordings, take statements from witnesses, and track down those responsible. As the footage circulated, numerous social media users voiced comparable concerns. For many viewers, the most disturbing aspect was not only the violence itself, but that multiple students seemed to be present while the attack went on.

Questions over campus safety

At one moment in the video, the girl doing the slapping can be heard saying, “Aaj ke baad do saal mein ye baat uthegi nahi.” That remark has particularly disturbed viewers, who feel it sounded less like an effort to seek an apology and more like an attempt to impose silence. At present, Bennett University has not issued any official public statement regarding the authenticity of the video or the initiation of any disciplinary action.
