
Pune: The Bhimthadi Jatra (Fair) at the Agricultural College Grounds in Shivajinagar has once again captivated Punekars with its diverse array of food and products. The fair, known for showcasing the rich culinary and cultural traditions of Maharashtra, saw enthusiastic participation from locals.
Today, December 25, marks the last day of the fair, with stalls remaining open until 10 PM, giving visitors one final opportunity to enjoy the event.
The food stalls have been the biggest attraction, offering an extensive menu of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. From coastal seafood like surmai, pomfret, and chilapi to traditional Kolhapuri dishes like tambda-pandhra rassa, visitors have had plenty to savor.
Other highlights included gavran chicken, Khandeshi puran mande, assorted bhakris, ukadiche modak, and the seasonal delicacy hurda. Sweet treats like jaggery tea, mas vadi, and khapli wheat kheer also drew significant attention.
Apart from food, the fair showcased a variety of farmer-produced items. Organic fruits and vegetables, decorative plants, saplings, and millets were available for sale at the farmer stalls. Children attending the fair had a hands-on experience with pottery and expressed interest in learning the craft.
The fair has been praised for supporting local farmers and artisans, as well as for providing a platform to experience and celebrate Maharashtra’s rich culinary heritage.
Organizers have encouraged Punekars to visit on the final day and enjoy the unique offerings.
