Pune: Starting January 4, a new Hindi web series will begin filming in Bhor, transforming the city into a vibrant replica of Siliguri, West Bengal. The storyline of the series is set in Siliguri, and to authentically depict the city, local areas such as the Rajwada precinct and nearby lanes are being converted into Bengali-style neighborhoods.
Transformation to Siliguri
To recreate Siliguri’s look, houses, shops, temples, and even cycle rickshaws have been crafted and painted to reflect the aesthetic of the region. Bengali-language signboards have been installed throughout the area.
The production team has utilized local structures such as Raja Raghunathrao School, old-fashioned houses, narrow streets, and temples for the set design. Idols of deities and decorations for temples on the main streets have also been prepared to enhance the authenticity of the Siliguri-themed environment.
Economic Boost and Employment Opportunities
The filming has brought significant economic activity to Bhor, benefiting local businesses and creating employment opportunities for residents. Many locals, including artists, unemployed youth, and vendors, are involved in the filming process. A few young women from Bhor have also been cast in roles in the series, with one securing the role of a police sub-inspector.
The project has invigorated the local marketplace, with a noticeable surge in economic transactions. The involvement of local talent and the support of local businesses have made the filming process a collaborative and beneficial venture for the community. Filming for the series is scheduled to continue in Bhor for the next 15 days.
