Pune: A significant fire broke out at Rishi Polymers, a plastic molding company in Sector 10 of Bhosari MIDC, on Sunday (January 12) evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 PM. As it was a holiday, the premises were unoccupied, averting any casualties.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) fire brigade received a distress call and responded promptly. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a massive blaze that had spread rapidly.
The situation required reinforcements, and fire engines from Pune Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, Tata Motors, and Bajaj were dispatched to assist. In total, around 15-20 fire engines were deployed to tackle the fire.
Firefighters faced significant challenges in controlling the blaze as the company is a fully enclosed structure, restricting access to the interior. Additionally, the presence of plastic, flammable materials, and certain chemicals inside the premises further intensified the fire.
Despite these hurdles, the fire brigade worked tirelessly to contain the situation. By late night, efforts to douse the flames were still underway. Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Fortunately, no workers were present during the incident, as the company observes Sunday as a holiday. This prevented any loss of life.
