Emphasizing the significance of preserving the electoral process's integrity, the election commission announced on Thursday that social media activity is under close surveillance to avert any disturbances to the election atmosphere, and any violations of these rules will be met with stringent actions.

Additionally, all political parties, along with their leaders, candidates, and key campaigners, must ensure that any AI-generated or synthetic content used in their campaigns on social media or in advertisements is clearly labeled. This should be done using clear indicators like 'AI-Generated', 'Digitally Enhanced', or 'Synthetic Content', as stated by the election commission.

According to the MCC guidelines, any criticism of other parties should focus solely on their policies, programs, past performance, and actions. Parties and candidates should avoid commenting on private lives unrelated to the public roles of leaders or members of other parties. Additionally, criticism based on unverified claims or misrepresentations should be avoided.

What is the Model Code of Conduct?

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comprises guidelines provided by the Election Commission of India to regulate the behavior of political parties and candidates during elections. These norms cover various aspects such as meetings, processions, election manifestos, polling, and overall conduct.

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is activated as soon as the election timetable is announced and stays in effect until the electoral process concludes. "The Commission has put in place comprehensive measures to ensure the MCC Guidelines are enforced effectively. Any breach of these Guidelines will be addressed with strict action."
