Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a revenue assistant from the Indapur Tehsil Office for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 to process land-related documents. The accused, Kaveri Vijay Khade, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe following a trap set by the ACB. A case has been registered against her.
According to ACB Police Inspector Prem Waghmare, the complainant’s father owns 39 gunthas of land in Indapur taluka, which lacked road access. Since 2020, a legal claim regarding the issue had been under consideration before the Indapur Tehsildar. While hearings had taken place, the final decision was still pending.
In an alleged attempt to expedite the process and prepare the necessary documents in favor of the complainant, Kaveri Vijay Khade, a Class-3 Revenue Assistant, demanded a bribe of ₹50,000. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹25,000.
The farmer approached the ACB and lodged a formal complaint regarding the bribe demand. Acting on the complaint, the ACB set a trap. On February 28, at around 5 PM, Khade was caught in the act of accepting the bribe at the Indapur Tehsil Office.
Following her arrest, legal proceedings were initiated, and the process of registering a case at the Indapur Police Station was ongoing late into the night.
The anti-corruption operation was conducted under the guidance of ACB Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheetal Janve, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayanand Gawde. The action was executed by a team comprising Police Inspector Prem Waghmare, Police Constable Kailas Mahamunkar, Vanita Gore, and Chandrakant Kadam.
