Pune: A daring robbery occurred at Arihant Jewelers on B.T. Kawade Road, Ghorpadi, Pune, on Sunday (December 8) night.
At around 8:30 PM, three armed robbers stormed the jewelry store on a motorcycle, threatening the owner with a pistol and using pepper spray to incapacitate him. They also struck the owner with the handle of a machete before making away with the jewelry.
The store owner reported the incident to the Wanawadi police, who swiftly responded to the scene. Senior officers directed immediate measures, including setting up roadblocks to track down the culprits.
Meanwhile, the Pune Police Crime Branch has begun its investigation by reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity.
Although the exact value of the stolen items has not been disclosed, police officials are interrogating the store owner to gather more information.
This incident has raised concerns about repeated criminal activities on B.T. Kawade Road. A year ago, a similar robbery took place when a jewelry store owner from Sayyed Nagar, Hadapsar, was shot at and robbed while traveling home with his son after closing their shop.
Efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects in the latest case are ongoing, with police intensifying their patrolling and security measures in the area.
