Sale of Pune’s Seth Hirachand Nemchand Jain Boarding plot temporarily stayed by Charity Commissioner.
Petition filed citing document manipulation and false claims about a temple on the land.
Detailed inspection ordered; next hearing on October 28.
Pune, 21 October 2025: The disputed sale of the Seth Hirachand Nemchand Jain Boarding plot in Model Colony has been temporarily stayed by the Charity Commissioner, escalating local political and community tensions. The three-acre plot was sold to a builder for ₹230 crore, prompting protests by members of the Jain community demanding cancellation of the transaction.
A petition was filed in Mumbai with the Charity Commissioner by the Jain Boarding Protection Committee, represented by advocates Sukauśal Jinturkar, Yogesh Pandey, Laxmikant Khabia, Akshay Jain, and Prashant Baj. During the hearing, allegations were raised that some trustees misled authorities with falsified documents to secure approval for the sale.
The committee also claimed that financial liabilities from Buldana Urban and Gireshwar Credit Society had been imposed on the property and that there was a false assertion that no temple existed on the site.
In response, Charity Commissioner Amol Kaloti directed Pune’s Deputy Charity Commissioners to conduct a thorough inspection of the property and submit a detailed report by October 28. The Commissioner noted that the absence of any mention of a temple in the trust and municipal records made the case particularly serious.
Advocate Yogesh Pandey said, “We approached the Charity Commissioner with our concerns, and our points were considered during the hearing. The next hearing is scheduled for October 28.”
Laxmikant Khabia added, “We had earlier staged a protest at the District Collector’s office. At that time, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the Jain community would not face injustice. This assurance being honoured is our first success. Our fight is for our rights, not against any political party. Mihir Kulkarni, a close aide of the Chief Minister, has also played an important role in this matter.”
