Pune: The Ghodegaon Civil Judge (Junior Division) M. S. Mali, has sentenced Uddhav Ansa Langhe to three months of simple imprisonment and imposed a penalty of ₹5 lakh in connection with a cheque bounce case. The case was filed by Bhimashankar Chits India Private Limited after Langhe failed to honor a cheque issued for repayment of his loan.
According to court records, Langhe, a resident of Samvidane (Taluka Shirur), had taken a loan of ₹3 lakh from Bhimashankar Chits India Private Limited. He had committed to repaying the amount in installments. However, when the company attempted to cash a ₹3.5 lakh cheque issued by Langhe, it was dishonored by the bank.
Following multiple notices demanding payment, Langhe did not respond or clear the dues. As a result, the company initiated legal proceedings under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
During the court proceedings, both parties presented their arguments. After reviewing the evidence, Judge M. S. Mali ruled against Langhe, sentencing him to three months of imprisonment and ordering him to pay ₹5 lakh in compensation.
The case was represented on behalf of the complainant by legal advocates Balasaheb Pokharkar, Pratik Godse, and Pratiksha Kale.
