
Pune: The Children's Theater Council is set to host its inaugural Children's Theater Conference at the Anna Bhau Sathe Auditorium in Pune from December 20 to 22.
The event aims to celebrate and promote children's theater and performing arts.
Veteran actor Mohan Joshi has been appointed as the president of the conference, and the opening ceremony will be inaugurated by Dr. Mohan Agashe, a legendary figure in Indian theater.
The inauguration ceremony will bring together leading personalities from the theater and film industry, including Prashant Damle, President of the All India Marathi Natya Parishad; actors Sayaji Shinde, Ajit Bhure, Vijay Gokhale, Savita Malpekar, and Subodh Bhave. Several luminaries from the children's theater space are also expected to participate.
The conference will culminate on December 22 with an award ceremony to honor veteran theater artist Pratibha Matkari with the Children's Theater Council Award.
The closing event will feature distinguished guests, including Dr. Mohan Agashe, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mohan Joshi, and Ganesh Matkari.
Renowned artists such as Dr. Salil Kulkarni, Sandeep Khare, Padma Shri Parashuram Gangavane, and Meghna Erande will be felicitated for their contributions to performing arts.
President Neelam Shirke-Samant highlighted the event's diverse offerings, stating, "The conference will showcase performances by child artists, experimental plays by prominent groups across Maharashtra, folk art programs, and performances by differently-abled artists.
Attendees can also enjoy solo acts, magic shows, puppet plays, and Grips Theater productions. An art gallery featuring paintings, sculptures, rangoli, handicrafts, and masks will also be part of the event, along with training workshops for budding artists."
This multi-day conference promises to provide a platform for budding child artists and celebrate the rich traditions of children's theater.
