New Delhi, July 27, 2026: On Monday, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) stated that it was still waiting for the government’s promised written agreement regarding the withdrawal of criminal cases against protesters and organisers, and cautioned that it would have to restart its agitation if the assurance was not provided by Tuesday.
Talks With Government
Speaking at a press conference, CJP National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that the matter had been taken up during the third round of discussions with the government, prior to calling off the 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar.
Ranka stated that during the third round of discussions, it was agreed that all FIRs lodged against protesters and organisers nationwide would be withdrawn, and that no new FIRs would be registered against any organiser or protester in the future. He said the CJP had submitted a draft agreement to Union Ministers J. P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, and it was agreed that the government would share a written agreement by Tuesday after legal consultations.
Warning Of Fresh Protest
We are awaiting the government’s written agreement. We expect that a senior Cabinet minister will uphold the terms, ensuring that the FIRs are withdrawn, that no protester or organiser is subjected to harassment, and that no new cases are filed in the future," he said.
Ranka stated that if the written agreement was not received by Tuesday and the protesters and organisers detained in connection with the agitation were not released, the group would be compelled to resume its protests.
