Pune: A tragic accident on the Mumbai-Bengaluru outer ring road claimed the life of Yuvraj Shankar Chavan, a 65-year-old project manager from a construction company in Bibwewadi. The fatal collision occurred near Wadgaon Bridge on the evening of September 18 when Chavan was on his way home from work.
The incident took place around 6:45 PM, when a tanker, heading towards Mumbai, collided with Chavan’s two-wheeler near Wadgaon Bridge. Chavan was severely injured in the accident and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead before medical treatment could begin. The Sinhagad Road Police promptly arrested the tanker driver, Bhagwan Pandurang Kshirsagar, aged 48, from Malevadi, Walwa in Sangli district, for reckless driving.
Yuvraj Chavan’s son, Nathsinh Yuvraj Chavan, filed a formal complaint at the Sinhagad Road Police Station following the accident. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Jadhav, who confirmed that heavy vehicle accidents are a recurring issue on the Mumbai-Bengaluru road.
This stretch of road has seen numerous fatal accidents, often attributed to negligent and careless driving by operators of heavy vehicles.
Local authorities are urging drivers to exercise more caution on the outer ring road, particularly in high-traffic areas like Wadgaon Bridge, to prevent further tragedies.
