Pune: A 41-year-old courier delivery executive got fatally hit by a speeding Mercedes-Benz car at Golf Course Chowk in Yerawada on Tuesday (June18) afternoon. Pune has experienced a disturbing rise in accidents following the high-profile Porsche crash on May 19. In just 25 days, the city has seen 70 accidents, resulting in the deaths of 31 individuals.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, Nandu Arjun Dhawale, has been apprehended by the Yerawada Police and a case has been registered. The deceased, identified as Kedar Mohan Chavan, 41, a resident of Padmavati, was employed by EV Courier Services.

Chavan was traveling from Swargate to the airport with a parcel when the accident occurred. As he reached Golf Course Chowk, a Mercedes-Benz bearing a Serum Institute of India sticker collided with his motorcycle. Chavan was immediately taken to the hospital with severe injuries but succumbed during treatment. The police have confirmed that Dhawale was taken for a medical examination, and further investigations are ongoing. Co-incidentally the Mercedes-Benz car has been parked next to the Porsche car involved in recent Kalyani Nagar accident.

A few days back, a 17-year-old juvenile delinquent driving a car at high speed into a crowd at Vadgaon Ghenand near Alandi attempted to harm a woman and bystanders.

The Alandi Police had registered a case against the minor involved in this reckless act. The injured woman identified as Najooka Ranjeet Thorat from Vadgaon Ghenand had lodged a complaint regarding the incident that occurred.

A video of the incident had gone viral on social media, causing a stir in Alandi and surrounding areas. Locals compared the event to the recent Porsche car accident in Pune. This incident followed a previous case two and a half months ago in Charholi, where a traffic police officer was seriously injured after being hit by a car driven by another individual.
