Pune: Valmik Karad, the key accused in the murder of Massajog village Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, is currently in police custody. However, before surrendering, he allegedly stayed for four days at an unauthorized resort in Khed taluka, Pune district. The claim was made by MLA Jitendra Awhad in Mumbai, triggering speculation about Karad’s possible connections in Khed.
Unauthorized Resort in Khed Under Scrutiny
The resort near Bhama-Askhed Dam has already been under the scanner for various reasons. It is rumored that criminals from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mumbai, Maval, and other areas frequently visit Khed taluka and stay in local hotels and resorts to evade authorities.
MLA Jitendra Awhad’s statement has intensified discussions, with many now questioning whether Karad had the backing of influential figures in Khed.
Police and CID Investigation
When approached for a response, Pimpri-Chinchwad Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar stated, "We have no information about this matter. The case is being investigated by the CID."
Authorities are now expected to investigate whether the unauthorized resort in Khed provided shelter to Karad and if any local politicians or influential figures were involved.
