Pune: Ayurveda, an ancient and time-tested science, when integrated with modern technology, can lead to advanced and effective treatment solutions for human health.
This perspective was shared by Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil (Deemed) University, during an event where U.S.-based neuroscientist Dr. Tony Nader and Ayurveda expert Dr. Sadanand Sardeshmukh were conferred with honorary doctorates for their significant contributions to medical research.
The honorary Doctor of Science degrees were presented to Dr. Nader and Dr. Sardeshmukh for their innovative work in Ayurveda, Vedic sciences, and medical research.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by university dignitaries, including Vice-Chancellor Dr. N. J. Pawar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Smita Jadhav, Treasurer Dr. Yashraj Patil, Registrar Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, and Dr. Gunvant Yevla, Principal of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Ayurveda & Research Center.
Dr. P. D. Patil emphasized the importance of integrating Ayurveda with modern scientific research, stating, "Dr. Tony Nader’s work on Vedic culture, mind-body wellness, and Ayurveda, along with Dr. Sadanand Sardeshmukh’s groundbreaking research in Ayurveda-based cancer treatments, is an inspiration to us all. Dr. D. Y. Patil University remains committed to fostering research and innovation in healthcare."
Dr. Tony Nader: “Vedic Knowledge is a Scientific Reality”
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Tony Nader remarked, "It is an honor to receive this recognition from a globally respected institution. Vedic literature offers deep scientific insights into consciousness, human physiology, and DNA. The study of consciousness is the foundation of human evolution, and ancient Vedic texts hold the key to understanding life’s deeper truths."
Dr. Sardeshmukh: Ayurveda’s Growing Global Influence
Dr. Sadanand Sardeshmukh, known for his contributions to Ayurveda-based cancer treatments, emphasized the increasing global interest in Ayurveda.
He stated, "While Ayurveda may not completely cure cancer, it provides significant relief and palliative care to patients. For over three decades, I have been working on combining traditional Ayurveda with modern scientific research to develop advanced treatment methods. Today, students from Russia, Australia, Japan, Germany, and Brazil are coming to Pune to study Ayurveda, and its effectiveness is being recognized worldwide."
The event concluded with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. J. N. Pawar and a vote of thanks by Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar.
