The renowned Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust in Pune has announced that this year’s Ganeshotsav celebration will feature a stunning recreation of Kerala’s iconic Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The initiative aims to offer devotees and visitors a unique blend of Maharashtra’s festive fervor and Kerala’s architectural splendor, making Ganeshotsav 2025 an unforgettable experience.
The Padmanabhaswamy Temple, located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is one of India’s most revered and architecturally significant temples. Known for its intricate Dravidian style, gold-plated sanctum, and the legendary wealth stored within its vaults, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and attracts devotees from across the globe.
By choosing to recreate this temple, the Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust seeks to celebrate the unity in diversity that defines Indian culture, while also highlighting the artistry and spiritual significance of Kerala’s temple tradition.
The replica of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple will serve as the backdrop for the Ganesh idol during the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival. Key highlights include:
Skilled artisans from Kerala and Maharashtra will collaborate to bring the temple’s iconic gopuram, intricate carvings, and gold-like embellishments to life.
The pandal will feature traditional lamps, rangoli designs, and floral arrangements inspired by Kerala’s Onam festival, adding to the festive ambiance.
The Trust has planned classical dance and music performances, including Kathakali and Carnatic recitals, to immerse visitors in Kerala’s cultural heritage.
Daily aartis, bhajans, and special pujas will be conducted, offering devotees a chance to experience the devotional atmosphere of both Maharashtra and Kerala.
The announcement has sparked excitement among Pune’s residents and the wider devotee community. “Every year, Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust surprises us with creative themes, but this year’s Kerala connection is truly special,” said Anjali Menon, a Pune-based devotee originally from Kerala. “It’s a beautiful way to celebrate India’s unity and diversity.”
Local businesses and artisans are also gearing up for increased footfall, as the event is expected to attract thousands of visitors from Pune, Maharashtra, and beyond.
By recreating the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust not only pays homage to a sacred South Indian landmark but also fosters cultural exchange and mutual respect among India’s diverse communities. The initiative is a reminder that festivals like Ganeshotsav are platforms for both devotion and cultural celebration.
The Trust has assured that all necessary safety, crowd management, and environmental measures will be in place. Special arrangements for elderly devotees, children, and differently-abled visitors are being planned to ensure an inclusive and comfortable experience.
The Trust has also encouraged devotees to use public transport and participate in eco-friendly celebrations, in line with Pune’s sustainability goals.
