Pune police have uncovered further shocking details in the Swargate bus depot rape case, adding another layer to the already horrifying crime. The accused, Dattatray Gade, not only assaulted the 26-year-old victim inside the MSRTC bus but also harassed another woman earlier that night, sources have revealed.
Gade had obtained the victim’s phone number at the bus station by falsely promising to help her with police recruitment. This new information has raised concerns about his pattern of luring and targeting women under false pretenses.
According to investigators, after committing the crime, Gade made six calls to the victim and insisted that she meet him early in the morning. His phone has now been seized by the police, and a technical analysis is being conducted to trace his digital footprint and uncover more potential victims.
