In her account, she explains that she entered a lift with the man and two other people, and then saw him allegedly urinating inside the elevator.

In the widely shared video, Mehta is seen challenging the elderly man over his behavior. When confronted, the man allegedly replies, “yes, sorry, do whatever you want,” seemingly indifferent to the incident. The interaction rapidly spread across social media, sparking discussions about public hygiene, civic duty, and compassion for older passengers. The video quickly went viral across multiple platforms, attracting thousands of comments and shares in just a few hours.

Police clarify medical emergency

After the post went viral, the Delhi Police posted an official clarification in the comments section.According to authorities, the incident took place around 9:40 PM on May 15, 2026. The elderly passenger was reportedly travelling from Jamia Metro Station toward Faridabad and experienced a sudden medical emergency during an interchange at Kalkaji Metro Station.

Police reported that although the man tried to find a restroom, he could not locate one in time. When the situation became unmanageable, he allegedly urinated into a bottle while inside the elevator.

Metro staff and security personnel were alerted by fellow passengers, after which action was taken.

Penalty imposed under metro law

Officials stated that the person was penalised under Section 59 of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Act for causing a public disturbance. Authorities further noted that all required procedures were carried out after the complaint was filed.The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation routinely imposes penalties for acts affecting cleanliness, passenger comfort, or public order inside metro premises.

Social media divided over incident

The episode drew a range of responses on social media. Some users voiced concern for the woman who recorded the interaction, while others demanded tougher enforcement of commuter regulations.
