
Pune: A theft case has been reported where ₹1.8 lakh in cash was stolen from a passenger's bag during a flight from Delhi to Pune. The bag was checked in at the Air India counter at the New Delhi Metro station and retrieved at Pune Airport, where the theft was discovered.
The complainant, Prasanna Vijay Nahar (42), a resident of Yamunanagar, Nigdi, filed a complaint at the Viman Nagar Police Station. According to the complaint, the incident occurred between the evening of January 12 and midnight of January 13.
Incident Details
Nahar handed over his bag for check-in at the Air India counter located at the New Delhi Metro Station. Upon landing in Pune, he retrieved his bag from Belt No. 3 at Pune Airport. Upon inspection, he noticed the bag had been tampered with, and cash totaling ₹1,80,450 was missing. The theft is suspected to have occurred during the Delhi-Pune flight.
Recurring Thefts on Air Travel
This is the third reported incident of theft from passenger luggage during air travel in recent times. In two previous cases, valuables were stolen after locks were broken on bags during flights from Dubai to Pune.
Both cases were registered with the Viman Nagar Police Station, but investigations remain unresolved. This latest incident adds to the growing concerns about passenger safety during air travel.
