
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 'Pune Metropolitan Region Growth Hub' initiative at Yashada, Pune.
The initiative aims to create a master plan aligned with the ‘India@2047’ vision for holistic development of the Pune Metropolitan Region.
The focus is on doubling Pune’s GDP, increasing per capita income, and developing it as a global city.
Pune, 2nd August 2025: The 'Pune Metropolitan Region Growth Hub' initiative was officially launched at Yashada in Pune, marking a significant step in the city’s long-term development. The event was organized jointly by NITI Aayog, the Government of Maharashtra, and the Pune International Centre. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the project in the presence of several dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that Pune has the potential to expand into new areas and build on its existing strengths. He expressed confidence that this growth hub would guide the city’s future with a well-planned development roadmap.
The initiative aims to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) that aligns with the national ‘India@2047’ vision. This plan will focus on doubling Pune's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), improving per capita income, and positioning Pune as a globally competitive city.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar from Pune International Centre, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Rajgopal Deora, and PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, among others.
This growth hub is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of Pune, supporting its urban expansion, and making it a central hub in Maharashtra’s economic transformation.
