Pune: FLAME University successfully hosted the DigiNiti Technology and Policy Conclave 2025, an event designed to explore the evolving role of technological advancements in governance and policymaking. Themed ‘Tech in Policy: Technological Innovations and Their Integration into Policymaking and Implementation,’ the conclave facilitated high-level discussions among policymakers, industry leaders, and scholars on how emerging technologies are reshaping public governance.
The conclave focused on bridging the gap between academic research and real-world policy applications, featuring youth forums, research presentations, expert panel discussions, and keynote lectures. Participants examined the two-way relationship between technology and policymaking—how technology enables precise, data-driven decisions while also requiring robust regulatory oversight.
During her keynote address on data-driven policymaking, Shamika Ravi, Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, underscored the need for state- and district-level precision policymaking, stating, “India has reached a stage where baseline needs are met, and there is now an opportunity to transition towards precision policies tailored at the local level.”
In the panel discussion on “How Much to Regulate Technology,” Apar Gupta, a leading lawyer, emphasized the necessity of balancing regulatory control over digital platforms with citizen privacy and freedom of expression.
Another session, titled “Bridging Academia and Industry: Crafting Tomorrow’s Policy Path,” featured Prashant Girbane, Director General of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA), who stressed the importance of industry-academia collaboration in fostering innovation, economic growth, and job creation.
Rishikesha Krishnan, Director of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), highlighted in his keynote speech how well-structured public policies play a critical role in accelerating India’s innovation landscape.
Prof. M.A. Venkataramanan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of FLAME University, remarked, “DigiNiti 2025 underscores our dedication to fostering an environment where research translates into real-world policy applications. By engaging students in critical discussions, we equip them to contribute meaningfully to India’s governance through technology-driven solutions.”
