Pune: While honesty is a noble virtue, it is rarely found in everyone. Many people abandon honesty for temporary gains. However, there are exceptions who demonstrate genuine integrity, and such acts do not go unnoticed. A recent incident in Hadapsar highlights such an act of honesty where a young man returned a bag containing valuables worth lakhs.
In front of the Maruti Mandir No. 15 in Hadapsar, there is a public relations office of Sandeep Dalvi, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assembly constituency.
On Sunday (July 14) evening, Santosh Ramchandra Dalvi, Sandeep Dalvi’s younger brother, was sitting on a bench outside the office with some friends. They noticed a bag hanging on a two-wheeler parked nearby.
Upon inspection, Santosh found cash, a passport, a visa, an ID card, medicines, and a mobile phone inside the bag. Assuming the owner would come looking for the bag or call the phone inside it, Santosh waited until late at night. However, no one came or contacted him about the bag.
The next morning, with the help of BJP Assembly President Sandeep Dalvi, Santosh handed over the bag to the Hadapsar police. The police contacted the bag’s owner, verified their identity, and returned the bag and its contents, which were worth around ₹3.5 lakhs, through Santosh.
Santosh's act of returning the bag with all its valuable contents, including important documents and cash, has been widely praised.
