
Pune: On International Day of Education, Fleetguard Filters (FFPL) launched ‘Prabhaar’, a compelling short film advocating for girl child education.
Directed by Rahul Panshikar and inspired by real events, the film captures the struggles of young girls in their pursuit of education amidst societal challenges.
The premiere took place at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune, and was attended by FFPL Managing Director Niranjan Kirloskar, President Sanjay Kulkarni, and contributors such as lawyer Heena Mistry, Saloni Kumari, Rajendra Bhide, Vibhishan Munde, and Navnath Shinde.
‘Prabhaar’ portrays the inspiring journey of Neena, a young girl determined to break free from entrenched patriarchal norms to achieve education and independence. The story reflects the struggles of countless girls across India, making a powerful case for the importance of community support in driving change.
Heena Mistry, whose life inspired the film, shared her story at the launch. Now a practicing lawyer at the Bombay High Court, Mistry spoke about her challenging journey to access education and highlighted the societal barriers that continue to affect girls' schooling. "I hope my story inspires other girls to take charge of their lives and overcome similar obstacles," she said.
Saloni Kumari, another speaker, recounted her journey from Darbhanga to Delhi and the hurdles she faced. Navnath Shinde shared his personal experiences, emphasizing the transformative impact of timely educational support.
Speaking at the event, FFPL President Sanjay Kulkarni underlined the importance of addressing systemic issues such as inadequate sanitation in schools and entrenched patriarchal mindsets.
“Under our CSR initiative, we have built toilets for girls in over 30 schools so far,” he said. He also stressed the need for families, especially mothers, to support and encourage girls in their educational pursuits.
