Pune: Hadapsar Police have successfully rescued a man who was abducted from his residence due to a dispute over his son's love affair. The operation, carried out within 12 hours of the abduction, led to the arrest of three individuals, while one suspect remains at large.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhijit Dattatray Bhosale (22), Ranjit Ramesh Dikole (21), and Maruti Ashok Gaikwad (23). Another suspect, Sagar Khurangale, is currently absconding, and police efforts are ongoing to track him down. A case has been registered at Hadapsar Police Station.
According to police reports, a young man from Hadapsar was in a romantic relationship with a woman from Wagholi. However, the woman's family strongly opposed their relationship. On February 3, the woman went missing, prompting her family members to visit the young man’s residence in Hadapsar. A heated argument broke out between both families.
Later that night, at approximately 11 PM, the woman's relatives, along with the three accused, stormed into the young man's house, threatened his father, and forcibly took him away on a two-wheeler.
The victim’s wife immediately informed the police control room, triggering a rapid response from the Hadapsar Police. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde personally visited the crime scene.
Investigations revealed that the kidnappers had initially taken the victim to Wadebolhai and Kesnand before heading towards Barshi. Acting swiftly, police set up a checkpoint at the Patas Toll Plaza on the Pune-Solapur Highway, where the suspects were intercepted and arrested. The victim was rescued unharmed.
