

Pune: Mobile snatching incidents have become increasingly common in Pune, with pedestrians frequently falling victim to thieves. In a recent case reported from Hadapsar, a young man suffered injuries after resisting an attempt to steal his mobile phone.
The incident occurred on Friday (December 20) evening around 8:30 PM when the victim, a resident of Bhagirathi Nagar in Hadapsar, was walking towards his society.
Two motorcycle-borne individuals approached him and attempted to snatch his mobile phone. When the victim resisted and tried to thwart their efforts, the thieves retaliated by dragging him for 200 to 300 meters on their motorcycle.
In a shocking turn of events, one of the accomplices bit the victim's hand during the struggle. The victim sustained injuries to his knee in the scuffle. Despite his efforts, the thieves managed to escape with the mobile phone.
The victim lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Assistant Police Commissioner Ashwini Rakh and Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare visited the crime scene to oversee the investigation. Police Sub-Inspector Arjun Kudale is leading the inquiry into the matter.
Statistics reveal a worrying trend, with Pune recording over 167 incidents of mobile snatching by the end of November. Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
