Pune: A college student was robbed of her gold chain worth ₹1 lakh at knifepoint while walking at Hanuman Tekdi near Senapati Bapat Road. This marks the third robbery incident reported in the area within two months, raising concerns among local residents.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2 PM on Saturday, January 4. The victim and her friend were taking a walk when they were confronted by the assailants, who threatened them with a knife, abused them, and assaulted the victim before fleeing with the gold chain.
Terrified by the ordeal, the victim and her friend initially refrained from reporting the crime but later filed a complaint at Deccan Police Station on Monday, January 6.
Investigation Underway
Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar visited the crime scene, and Sub-Inspector Sawant is leading the investigation. The police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the culprits and address safety concerns in the area.
Alarming Rise in Tekdi Crime
This is the third robbery targeting college students at Hanuman Tekdi in recent months. In a related incident on Baner-Pashan Road Hill, college students were mugged, and Chatuhshrungi Police successfully apprehended the suspects.
Despite being popular recreational spots for walkers and fitness enthusiasts, hill areas in Pune, such as Hanuman Tekdi, Vetal Tekdi, and Taljai Tekdi, are witnessing an increase in crimes, leaving citizens worried about their safety. The fear among residents is compounded by a previous case at Bopdev Ghat, where a college student was physically and sexually assaulted.
