
Pune: In an exemplary display of alertness and compassion, two female traffic police officers in Hinjewadi facilitated the safe delivery of a baby for a pregnant woman en route to Aundh Hospital.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has drawn widespread praise for the officers' timely intervention.
The pregnant woman, Rajashree Madhav Waghmare, was heading to Aundh Hospital when she began experiencing severe abdominal pain near Wakad.
Traffic police constables Neelam Vijay Chavan and Reshma Nazir Shaikh, who were on duty at the location, noticed her distress and immediately stepped in to assist.
The officers escorted Rajashree to a nearby room, contacted a doctor, and called for an ambulance. While awaiting medical support, the officers provided her with encouragement and comfort.
Shortly after, a doctor arrived on the scene and assisted Rajashree in delivering a healthy baby.
Following the delivery, both mother and child were transported to Aundh Hospital for further medical care. Police officials confirmed that both are in good health.
The prompt response by constables Neelam Chavan and Reshma Shaikh has garnered appreciation from the community. Their decisive actions, including contacting medical assistance and arranging for a safe delivery location, ensured the safety of both the mother and child.
