Apple has begun full-scale production of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in India ahead of their anticipated September release, with domestic plants increasing output to satisfy demand from the US and European markets, according to the report published in Moneycontrol.
Although Foxconn continues to hold the majority of production volume, Tata Electronics is expected to increase its share of Pro-series manufacturing this year, they said.
Foxconn will remain responsible for most of the manufacturing, especially for iPhones produced in India for international markets.
Tata is expected to manage a larger share of Pro-model production than it did last year. In the previous manufacturing cycle, Tata first concentrated on base models and then shifted to producing the Pro versions.
“Compared with last year, Tata will have a comparatively larger share of the Pro models.
Production of the Pro models did not start immediately after last year’s launch; the company initially concentrated on the standard consumer versions and only moved on to the Pro models later.
This year, with emphasis on the Pro models, Tata is expected to account for a relatively larger portion of Pro manufacturing. Nonetheless, Foxconn will continue to produce most of the units, as it primarily manages manufacturing for international markets.
India has become a significant center for Apple’s production and exports, with five plants in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka now manufacturing iPhones. These facilities include Tata’s unit in Hosur and Foxconn’s major production complex near Bengaluru airport.
