
Pune: The manager of Kailash Steel Company in Chakan’s Varale industrial area was shot at by two unidentified assailants on January 20th, around 10:45 AM.
The attack left Ajay Vikram Singh (35, resident of Hinjewadi) injured. Investigations have led to the arrest of three individuals, including the victim’s cousin, who allegedly orchestrated the attack.
Following a detailed inquiry, the Anti-Gang Squad uncovered that the shooting was planned by Sangram alias Chandan Anant Singh (42, resident of Marunji, Pune), a cousin of the victim.
Upon interrogation, Sangram Singh confessed to hiring contract killers for the attack. Another accused, Rohit Sudhan Pandey (23, resident of Dubhad, Badsar, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh), was arrested from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the case.
According to police reports, while Ajay Singh was inside the company premises, two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him with the intent to kill. Two bullets were fired, leaving him injured, while the assailants fled the scene.
Senior police officials, including Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Shashikant Mahawarkar, Additional Commissioner Vasant Paradeshi, and Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Doiphode, visited the crime scene and ordered a thorough investigation.
The case was assigned to the Anti-Gang Squad, led by Assistant Police Inspector H.V. Mane and Police Sub-Inspector Ashok Jagtap. CCTV footage from various locations near the crime scene was examined, and a technical analysis conducted by Police Constables Shyam Baba and G.S. Medge provided crucial leads. Further interrogation revealed that Sangram Singh had planned the attack due to personal disputes.

The accused had conducted surveillance (recce) for nearly a week using different vehicles before attempting the murder. Sangram Singh was produced before the Khed Court, which remanded him to two days of police custody.
Meanwhile, police apprehended Rohit Pandey from Uttar Pradesh, and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused. Notably, Sangram Singh also has fraud cases registered against him in Gujarat.
