Pune: A case has been filed against the owner and manager of Unicorn House restaurant in Kalyani Nagar for organizing a party on December 31st night without proper permission, violating state government regulations.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Sahasrabuddhe (owner) and Nikhil Ashok Wanjari (manager), now face legal action for breaching the guidelines set by authorities.
According to the complaint lodged by Police Constable Swapnil Marathe at the Yerawada Police Station, hotels and restaurants in Maharashtra were allowed to operate until 5:00 AM on December 31st under specific terms and conditions issued by the state government.
However, multiple establishments across Pune were found violating these regulations. Unicorn House restaurant was among the offenders, as it used a sound system without obtaining prior permission.
The police reported that both Sahastrabuddhe and Wanjari were aware of the rules but chose to ignore them. Acting on a complaint received on New Year’s Eve, the police raided the premises, confiscated the sound system, and filed charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 223(3)(5) and Maharashtra Police Act Section 33, R/W 131. Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil is leading the investigation into the incident.
Pune District Collector had permitted restaurants, bars, and party venues in the city to remain open until 5 AM on two specific days—Wednesday, December 25, and Tuesday, December 31. However, liquor sales were allowed only until 1 AM on these days.
