
Pune: Late-night activities in violation of regulations have resurfaced in the Kalyaninagar area of Yerawada, prompting police action.
Separate cases have been registered against the owners and managers of Kukoo Bar and Oi Brewhouse after they were found operating unauthorized sound systems and hosting gatherings late into the night.
Police Raids and Violations
The first raid took place at Kukoo Bar, where police discovered an unauthorized sound system in use and 48 people present at the establishment.
Following this, a case was registered against the hotel's owner, Khushboo Verma, and manager, Faiyaz Fakiruddin Mir. The complaint was filed by police officer Pravin Khatmode.
In a separate raid, police targeted Oi Brewhouse in the same area, where 25-30 individuals were found gathered with a sound system being operated illegally.
The brewery's owner, Aman Prem Talreja of Koregaon Park, and manager, Nikhil Bedekar of Mundhwa, were charged with violating rules.
The issue of late-night operations in hotels and pubs had gained attention following a hit-and-run case in Kalyaninagar.
After the incident, police and excise authorities took action by shutting down over 20 establishments in the area. However, the late-night hotel and pub culture has since resurfaced, with Kalyaninagar being a hotspot for such activities.
Local residents have expressed frustration over the disturbances caused by these establishments, which operate beyond permissible hours. Despite repeated complaints, the violations continue, affecting the quality of life in the area.
The Yerawada police have assured strict action against establishments flouting the rules. They emphasized the importance of adhering to operational guidelines to ensure peace and order in residential areas.
