Pune, 21 July 2025: The new Katraj Tunnel is an important gateway for drivers coming from Kolhapur to Pune. Drivers enter Pune experiencing the mountains, greenery and natural beauty. However, there is now a risk of accidents on this scenic route.
The tunnel, which is about 1,458 meters long, is part of the Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway. Currently, water from the mountains is flowing through the tunnel on the road. There are no speed bumps, signboards or warning systems to control the speed of vehicles in this area.
The National Highways Authority of India needs to look into this seriously. Due to frequent accidents in the Navle bridge area, a new flyover needs to be built there. Currently, the slope at this location causes many drivers to lose control.
Proper Outflow of water is needed
Speed bumps and signal systems should be installed.
Traffic police should be appointed.
Night Lights are necessary
Speed guns, reflectors, and guide signboards are required.
