Pune: A domestic dispute turned deadly in Kharadi early Wednesday (January 22) morning when a man brutally attacked and killed his wife using scissors. The Chandannagar police have arrested the accused, identified as 37-year-old Shivdas Tukaram Gite, while the victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jyoti Shivdas Gite.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. in Tuljabhavani Nagar, Kharadi, where the couple lived in a rented accommodation. According to police reports, Shivdas Gite is originally from Beed and works as a typist in a court. The couple had been facing marital discord for several days, which culminated in a fatal altercation.

During the argument, Shivdas reportedly lost control and attacked Jyoti with a pair of scissors, causing severe injuries to her neck. Hearing her screams, neighbors, who were fast asleep, rushed to the house and found Jyoti lying in a pool of blood.

The neighbors immediately informed the Chandannagar police, who arrived at the scene without delay. Jyoti was rushed to Sassoon Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that the accused was arrested on the spot. "We have detained Shivdas, and further inquiries are ongoing to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic incident," he stated.
