Pune: In the early hours of Monday (January 13), a fire broke out at Natasha Enclave Society on NIBM Road, Kondhwa, causing panic among residents. The fire originated in the premises and spread to the balconies of the first and second floors of one of the buildings. Residents evacuated the building swiftly, averting any casualties.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. when a two-wheeler parked in the society premises caught fire. Upon receiving the alert, firefighters from the Kondhwa fire station arrived promptly.
Flames had reached the balconies of the first and second floors, burning items stored there and creating heavy smoke. Firefighters ensured all residents were safely evacuated before using water jets to extinguish the fire.
During the operation, firefighters discovered a leaking gas cylinder in one of the flats. The cylinder was safely removed, and the leakage was contained, preventing a potentially catastrophic explosion.
The firefighting team, led by officers Kailas Shinde and Deepak Kachare, with support from Nilesh Lonkar, Mohan Sanas, Anurag Patil, and Ramraj Bagal, brought the situation under control within a short time. The ground-floor salon remained unaffected by the fire.
Speaking with mediapersons, Kondhwa Fire Station Officer-in-Charge Kailas Shinde stated, "Natasha Enclave Society comprises five-story buildings, and quick action by the fire department ensured that no one was harmed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation."
