Kondhwa Youth Duped of ₹5 Lakh in College Admission Fraud, Case Registered

As per investigation, accused befriended the victim and gained his trust, claiming that he had connections to secure a college admission.

Pune: A 20-year-old youth from Kondhwa has fallen victim to a fraud scheme where he was allegedly cheated of ₹5 lakh by a man who falsely promised to secure him admission to a college.

The victim, a resident of NIBM Road, filed a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station, leading to the registration of a case against Vinay Dolse, a resident of Pradhikaran, Pimpri-Chinchwad. According to police sources, the fraud occurred between April and November 2024.

As per the investigation, Dolse befriended the victim and gained his trust, claiming that he had connections to secure a college admission. Believing him, the youth transferred ₹5 lakh for the process. However, despite taking the money, Dolse failed to arrange the admission.

When the victim demanded a refund, the accused refused to return the money. After multiple failed attempts to recover the amount, the youth approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.

Following the complaint, the Kondhwa police registered a case and initiated an investigation under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Thorat.

Authorities have urged students and parents to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes and verify all admission processes through official channels.
