Pune: The Maharashtra government has approved a ₹50 crore allocation for the implementation of the 'Daksh' project, an initiative supported by the World Bank aimed at enhancing vocational education, skill development, and innovation in the state. The project also includes infrastructure development and its strengthening.
The Daksh project is designed as a five-year initiative, officially launched on February 6, 2025. Under this scheme, key focus areas include:
Renovation of 'Daksh Halls'
Integration of the MahaSwayam portal
Consultancy services for skill development programs
Establishment of project management units
Capacity-building initiatives
Funding Structure and Implementation
The total funding of ₹50 crore for the project consists of ₹15 crore contributed by the Maharashtra government and ₹35 crore provided by the World Bank.
The funds have been approved for disbursement and utilization, according to Mithun Salunkhe, an official from the Department of Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
The initiative is expected to enhance employment opportunities for youth by improving access to high-quality vocational training and skill enhancement programs.
