Mumbai: ‘Anahad’, a unique musical festival celebrating the depth and spirituality of Indian classical music, will be held on March 27 and 28 at the NCPA Mumbai. Organised by SPIC MACAY the event promises an enriching cultural experience.
The festival is also being organised simultaneously in Pune at the Shakuntala Jagannath Shetty Auditorium, Erandwane, bringing the same spirit of classical excellence to both cities. Over two days, audiences will witness performances by some of India’s most celebrated classical musicians.
SPIC MACAY, which has been working for decades to promote Indian classical music, dance, yoga and traditional arts among youth, continues its mission through ‘Anahad’. The initiative allows students and young audiences to experience high-quality live performances while also engaging with eminent artists.
In Mumbai, the festival will feature maestros such as Bahauddin Dagar, Ulhas Kashalkar, Begum Parveen Sultana and N. Rajam. They will be accompanied by accomplished artists including Suresh Talwalkar and Mukundraj Deo, among others.
Meanwhile, the Pune edition will host distinguished performers like N. Rajam, Venkatesh Kumar, Abhishek Raghuram and Ronu Majumdar, supported by a talented group of accompanists.
The festival will showcase the richness of raga music, intricate rhythms and the emotional depth of Indian classical traditions. It aims to offer audiences not just a concert, but a deeper cultural and spiritual journey through sound.
The event will also be attended by Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. Scheduled to begin at 6 pm at NCPA, the organisers have invited students, art lovers and the general public to attend in large numbers.
‘Anahad’ is expected to be more than just a musical gathering, it is a meaningful effort to preserve and promote India’s cultural heritage while inspiring the next generation to appreciate classical arts.
