Bail application of suspects in Narendra Dabholkar murder case rejected

Pune: The anti-superstition crusader, Dr Narendra Dabholkar, who was gun down alleged by the members of right-wing, Dr Virendrasinh Tawde and Vikram Bhave's bail applications were rejected by the special court.

In order to get bail in the Dr Dabholkar murder case, Dr Tawde had earlier applied for bail three times and Bhave had applied for a bail second time.

The court rejected their bail applications for being suspects in the Dr Dabholkar murder case. Supplementary chargesheets were filed against the suspect's lawyer, Sanjeev Punalekar and his office bearer Vikram Bhave.

Meanwhile, Dr Tawde had filed an application in the special court seeking permission to meet his old age father. Dr Tawde has been allowed to meet his father.

According to the charge sheet, "Dr Tawde is a full-time associate of Sanatan Sanstha. In the murder case of Dr Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, Dr Tawde was accused by the CBI of being the main facilitator. Sharad Kalaskar and Sachin Andure are other suspects in the Dabholkar murder case. Their lawyer Adv. Sanjeev Punalekar had advised them to throw the pistol from the creek bridge in Mumbai."

The CBI had visited the spot where Dabholkar was killed. Kalaskar was arrested in May 2019 in connection with the murder of a journalist, Gauri Lankesh in Bangalore. According to the confessional statement given by Kalaskar to CBI, Adv. Punalekar and Bhave were arrested based on the advice given to them to allegedly tamper the firearms and other goods."
