
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday stated that there are 2.5 lakh isolation beds available in the State for treating COVID-19 patients. The CM claimed that apart from these beds, there are 1,500 COVID care centres and many more health facilities are being created.
CM Thackeray virtually inaugurated a dedicated COVID care centre built at the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi. The COVID care centre has been built in a joint venture by the Pune Zilla Parishad, District Health Society, National Health Mission and Wipro Company. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who is also the Guardian Minister for Pune District, also conveyed his good wishes on this occasion. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji participated from Mumbai in this online function.
Zilla Parishad President Nirmala Pansare, Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar, PMRDA Commissioner Vikram Kumar, District Collector Naval Kishor Ram, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Ayush Prasad, Additional CEO Bharat Shendge, District Surgeon Dr Ashok Nandapurkar, District Health Officer Dr Bhagwan Pawar, Wipro Senior Vice President Hariprasad Hegde, former Member of Parliament Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, Zilla Parishad Vice President Ranjit Shivtare and others were present at the centre during the online inauguration.
Thackeray said, "We have been fighting the war against corona since the last three months. Since the first patient was detected in the State, we have come a long way ahead. There were only two testing centres in the State, and now we have 80 of them. At the start of this war, we had only 350 isolation beds, and now we have about 2.5 lakh of them. Wipro doesn't compromise on quality, and that is their hallmark. This centre built by Wipro is an example of this quality service. I congratulate their team."
Rajesh Tope said that the State government has granted Rs 1.32 crore for this hospital.
