Extension of night curfew in Maharashtra? Government yet to issue the notification
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government till January 6 has not issued any notification to extend the night curfew which was imposed till January 5.
In the wake of a new strain of the COVID-19 emerging in the United Kingdom, the Maharashtra government in December declared to impose a night curfew in all the municipal areas of the state. The curfew was in place from 11 pm to 6 am and was limited till January 5.
The State Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that decision on extension of the night curfew will be taken by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He also said that the government is keeping a close eye the statistics of COVID-19 cases as well as monitoring the situation in the state. The final decision on the extension of the night curfew will be taken by the Chief Minister.
MASS COVID VACCINE DRIVE IN STATE
Health Minister Rajesh Tope before launching a mass vaccine drive also said that the Maharashtra government will pursue some clarifications from the Centre on the two COVID-19 vaccines approved for the restricted emergency use.
Talking mediapersons, the Minister also stated a dry run will be conducted around Maharashtra on January 8 to check the readiness of the mechanism rolled out for the vaccination rollout.
