Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while addressing the state on Sunday declared to launch a campaign - My Family, My Responsibility from September 15 to cover 12 crore families in Maharashtra amid the growing cases in the state.
CM Uddhav Thackeray said, “It is inconvenient to carry health survey of 12 crore people thus in order to ease out this problem, the campaign My Family My Responsibility will be launched. Under this campaign, we are trying to ensure that a team will visit every house in the state at least twice. I am calling on all legislators and authorities to help us in this campaign. The team will carry out a survey. The aim is to chase the virus.”
“I request people to provide a detailed list of those you had met and places you had visited; in case you test positive for coronavirus. Also while travelling use of facemask is compulsory and people should follow all the rules,” he appealed.
The CM also asked the citizens to practice all rules of social distancing. “Try meeting people in open areas instead of closed rooms. Also, the use of air-conditioner should be reduced.” He also promoted online shopping in order to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
Hinting on the reopening of other activities in the state, CM said, “We have allowed several hotels to re-start their business. Yes, we are trying to reopen gyms and restaurants in the state.”
The CM also admitted that the cases of the novel coronavirus are witnessing a huge increase in the state with Pune, Mumbai and rural parts of the state too observing big caseload. He also feared that the second wave of COVID-19 has grappled the world. CM Thackeray also thanked all the people in the state for celebrating the festivals in low-key affair amid the rising cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the nation, with a total coronavirus tally of 10,37,765 positive cases, including 2,79,768 active cases with 7,28,512 recoveries.
